How do I know if I am allowed to take a Defensive Driving Course in Texas?
We recommend that you contact the state DMV or court before signing up. That is the best way to verify that you can take a course. But do it early or you will miss your deadline.

Do I have to finish the course in a certain amount of time?
You must finish the Defensive Drivers course before your court deadline. Also give yourself plenty of time for processing by the court.

What is ID Verification?
Some county courts require students to prove their identities. This is known as ID Verification. It is an easy-to-follow process with clear instructions. Not every county court asks for this requirement.

Do I need to attend a classroom?
No. The course is entirely online. It is web learning on your schedule at your pace.

Can I get an insurance discount if I am a senior driver?
Our course provider says, Yes! It varies by state who is allowed to take a course for an insurance discount. (In some state only mature drivers age 55 and over are eligible to receive an insurance discount by completing a course.) We definitely offer the insurance discount option in all the states in which we are approved.

How do I know if I am eligible for traffic school?
Check the paperwork sent to you by the court. It will explain your options for traffic school.

Tip for YOUNG, Arizona
Sometimes large vehicles must swing wide to turn safely. They'll swing right for a left turn and left for a right turn. Watch their turn signals and give them room to maneuver. Never drive between a turning truck or bus and the side of the road--your car could get stuck between the large vehicle and the curb.

Tip for YOUNG, Arizona
You need to teach safe driving behavior from the beginning. As the parent, you can start by modeling safe driving behavior anytime you drive your kids anywhere, even before they begin to drive.

It's not just good parenting, it's a matter of life and death. You need to talk to your kids about traffic safety early and often - before they reach driving age. When your teenager begins driving, we recommend that you set rules and then clearly outline the consequences of breaking the rules. Remind your teenager that driving is a privilege - a privilege they will lose if they don't drive by your rules.
