Can you give me an extension on my traffic school due date?
No. Only the court that you were cited from can grant an extension. You need to contact that Court.

I am able to adjust the position of my steering wheel. Which position is most likely to minimize injury but provide the greatest protection from an airbag?
Tilt the steering wheel toward your breastbone. Do not tilt it toward your abdomen or toward your head and neck. Try to adjust your seat at least 10 inches away from the center of the steering wheel.

How long do I have to finish the course?
As long as you need to get your certificate to the court within the court?s deadline. Give yourself plenty of time for mailing your certificate. We recommend you finish at least 10 business days prior to your deadline.

I've heard that some airbags smoke when they inflate. Is this a fire hazard?
Cornstarch or powder is packed inside the airbags to lubricate them and ensure proper inflation. The smoke is actually the cornstarch or powder and poses no fire hazard.

Winter driving tip from Caltrans: You will usually have about a mile between Chains Required signs and the checkpoint to install your chains.

Tip for THE PLAINS, Virginia
Since many motorcycles don't have windshields, riders must protect their eyes against insects, dirt, rocks, or other airborne matter. Even the wind can cause the eyes to tear and blur vision, and good vision is imperative when riding. Motorcycle operators should choose good quality goggles, glasses with plastic or safety lenses, or a helmet equipped with a face shield. Goggles, glasses, and face shields should be scratch free, shatterproof, and well-ventilated to prevent fog buildup. Only clear shields should be used at night since tinted shields reduce contrasts and make it more difficult to see. Even if the motorcycle has a windshield, eye protection is recommended.

Tip for THE PLAINS, Virginia
High-visibility enforcement of underage purchase, possession, and provision laws can create a significant deterrent for violation of youth access laws, reduce underage drinking, and decrease alcohol-related crashes. Additionally, parental responsibility is key to educating and protecting our teens. A new emphasis for the 2008 campaign reminds parents to obey the law and help keep their teens safe.
