I am a new driver. Do you offer first-time driver or teen driver education? Yes! In many states there is a teen/first-tie driver training course available. Check our site to see.
I am able to adjust the position of my steering wheel. Which position is most likely to minimize injury but provide the greatest protection from an airbag? Tilt the steering wheel toward your breastbone. Do not tilt it toward your abdomen or toward your head and neck. Try to adjust your seat at least 10 inches away from the center of the steering wheel.
How long does it take for my certificate to be delivered? Our course provider says that it processes certificates Monday-Friday at 3 PM Pacific Time (5 PM Central Time for Texas users). Users completing after 3 PM will be processed the following business day. We ask you to allow 3-5 business days for delivery. Premium delivery services are available for an additional fee.
Can I get an insurance discount if I am a senior driver? Our course provider says, Yes! It varies by state who is allowed to take a course for an insurance discount. Tip for SHELLEY, Idaho Winter driving tip from Caltrans: You will usually have about a mile between Chains Required signs and the checkpoint to install your chains.
Tip for SHELLEY, Idaho If you're driving down a hill ahead of a large vehicle that is fast approaching, speed up a little, if it's safe to do so, to keep a safe distance between your vehicles. The truck or bus driver may be trying to slow down safely without losing the momentum needed to climb the next hill at a reasonable speed.
Tip for SHELLEY, Idaho Texas driving tip: When passing a truck, don't move back into your lane until you can see both truck headlights in your rearview mirror.
Tip for SHELLEY, Idaho Head on collisions are among the most dangerous. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that, in 2006, 53 percent of passenger vehicle occupant fatalities occurred in vehicles that sustained frontal damage. (Traffic Safety Facts 2006 Data, NHTSA)
Tip for SHELLEY, Idaho Conversely, safety belt non use results in significant economic costs to society. The needless deaths and injuries from safety belt non use result in an estimated $26 billion in economic costs to society annually. (Sources: Facts to Buckle Up America and Traffic Safety Facts 2006 Data, NHTSA)
Tip for SHELLEY, Idaho On average, a pedestrian is killed in a motor vehicle crash every 110 minutes, and one is injured every 9 minutes. (Traffic Safety Facts 2006 Data, NHTSA)
Tip for SHELLEY, Idaho Most new cars have air bags for front-seat passengers. When used with lap/shoulder belts, air bags work very well to protect older children and adults. Air bags do not work with rear-facing child seats (those used with infants). Airbags could seriously injure or even kill an unbuckled child or adult who is sitting too close to the air bag or who is thrown toward the dash during emergency braking. In a crash, the air bag inflates very quickly. It could hit anything close to the dashboard with enough force to cause severe injuries or even death. Because the back of a rear-facing child seat sits very close to the dashboard, the seat could be struck with enough force to cause serious, or even fatal injuries to a baby. Even older children (who have outgrown child seats) are at risk from a deploying air bag, if they are not properly restrained.
Tip for SHELLEY, Idaho Left hand turns are more dangerous, so plan your travel route to include more right hand turns.
