How long is the Defensive Driving course? Most people can finish in about 4-6 hours. Some people take longer, but that is a rough guide for most students.
Do I need to wear a seatbelt in Texas? Safety belts save lives. That's why Texas is drawing the line for drivers and passengers: buckle up or face a fine!
Did you know? If you close your eyes for just one second at 60 mph, you will travel 88 feet.
How do airbags work? Airbags will deploy in most frontal collisions, however front airbags will most likely not deploy in side-collisions. Side airbags will deploy in most side-collisions but side airbags are not as common as front airbags.
Do I have to finish the course in a certain amount of time? You must finish the Defensive Drivers course before your court deadline. Also give yourself plenty of time for processing by the court.
I am able to adjust the position of my steering wheel. Which position is most likely to minimize injury but provide the greatest protection from an airbag? Tilt the steering wheel toward your breastbone. Do not tilt it toward your abdomen or toward your head and neck. Try to adjust your seat at least 10 inches away from the center of the steering wheel.
How do I know if I am eligible for traffic school? Check the paperwork sent to you by the court. It will explain your options for traffic school.
What should I do if I am involved in an accident? If there is damage to the vehicle, stop and exchange information. If someone is hurt, render aid and notify law enforcement. If you hit an unattended vehicle, find the driver or write your name and address on a note explaining what happened. You must also include the owner's name and address if the vehicle you are driving doesn't belong to you.

Traffic School Tip for ND Winter driving tip from Caltrans: Chain Installers: If you use the services of a chain installer, be sure to get a receipt and jot the installer's badge number on it. Remember, chain installers are independent business people, not Caltrans employees. Having the badge number may help with any misunderstandings later. Chain installers are NOT allowed to sell or rent chains.
Traffic School Tip for ND The increase in motorcycle-related deaths and injuries calls for new program actions to supplement existing initiatives.
Traffic School Tip for ND When backing up, do not rely on the rear view mirror. Always turn and look directly behind you. Check all directions to make sure the way is clear.
Traffic School Tip for ND Sometimes large vehicles must swing wide to turn safely. They'll swing right for a left turn and left for a right turn. Watch their turn signals and give them room to maneuver. Never drive between a turning truck or bus and the side of the road--your car could get stuck between the large vehicle and the curb.
Traffic School Tip for ND Remember, when you see the flashing red lights and the stop bar, you must stop and allow children to get on or off the bus.
Traffic School Tip for ND Since many motorcycles don't have windshields, riders must protect their eyes against insects, dirt, rocks, or other airborne matter. Even the wind can cause the eyes to tear and blur vision, and good vision is imperative when riding. Motorcycle operators should choose good quality goggles, glasses with plastic or safety lenses, or a helmet equipped with a face shield. Goggles, glasses, and face shields should be scratch free, shatterproof, and well-ventilated to prevent fog buildup. Only clear shields should be used at night since tinted shields reduce contrasts and make it more difficult to see. Even if the motorcycle has a windshield, eye protection is recommended.
Traffic School Tip for ND Do not block the passing lane. |
