I am able to adjust the position of my steering wheel. Which position is most likely to minimize injury but provide the greatest protection from an airbag?
Tilt the steering wheel toward your breastbone. Do not tilt it toward your abdomen or toward your head and neck. Try to adjust your seat at least 10 inches away from the center of the steering wheel.

What will I learn by taking your course?
We cover all manner of subjects on safe driving. You will learn about driving in unsafe conditions like fog, rain, and snow. You will learn about the 3-second rule and safe following distances. You will learn about the dangers of drunk driving. And you will learn how to safely operate a vehicle, include tips like how to back out of a parking space and how to handle a skid. All that and more when you take our defensive driving/traffic school course.

What is ID Verification?
Some county courts require students to prove their identities. This is known as ID Verification. It is an easy-to-follow process with clear instructions. Not every county court asks for this requirement.

I paid the court my fee to attend traffic school. Why do you charge me again?
Most courts charge an administrative fee you that must pay to be allowed to attend a traffic school. That fee is separate from and in addition to our tuition.

I know that all children under age 12 should ride in the back seat, especially if the car is equipped with airbags. What about the elderly; are they safe with airbags?
The elderly, like all other passengers and drivers, should be properly restrained with the seat as far back as possible and the individual's back firmly supported. All occupants should also keep arms and feet away from where the airbags will deploy.

Tip for MECHANICSVILLE, Virginia
Safety belts saved over 12,000 American lives in 2001. However, during this same year, nearly two-thirds (60 percent) of passenger vehicle occupants killed in traffic crashes were unrestrained. (Sources: Facts to Buckle Up America and Traffic Safety Facts 2006 Data, NHTSA)

Tip for MECHANICSVILLE, Virginia
Texas driving tip: Maintain a safe following distance. When the vehicle in front of you passes a fixed object, you should be able to count at least two seconds before you pass the same object.

Exposure, measured in terms of vehicle miles of travel (VMT) in 2001, shows that motorcyclists were about 26 times as likely to die in a crash than someone riding in a passenger car, and are 5 times as likely to be injured.

Tip for MECHANICSVILLE, Virginia
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens in the U.S.

Tip for MECHANICSVILLE, Virginia
If you are in a collision and no one is hurt, don't wait for the police before moving your vehicle. If you can drive the vehicle, the law requires you to move it out of the flow of traffic.

Tip for MECHANICSVILLE, Virginia
Winter driving tip from Caltrans: Be more observant. Visibility is often limited in winter by weather conditions. Slow down and watch for other vehicles that have flashing lights, visibility may be so restricted during a storm that it is difficult to see the slow moving equipment.

Tip for MECHANICSVILLE, Virginia
Don't tailgate. Try to keep four seconds of following distance between your car and the vehicle in front of you.

Tip for MECHANICSVILLE, Virginia
Most new cars have air bags for front-seat passengers. When used with lap/shoulder belts, air bags work very well to protect older children and adults. Air bags do not work with rear-facing child seats (those used with infants). Airbags could seriously injure or even kill an unbuckled child or adult who is sitting too close to the air bag or who is thrown toward the dash during emergency braking. In a crash, the air bag inflates very quickly. It could hit anything close to the dashboard with enough force to cause severe injuries or even death. Because the back of a rear-facing child seat sits very close to the dashboard, the seat could be struck with enough force to cause serious, or even fatal injuries to a baby. Even older children (who have outgrown child seats) are at risk from a deploying air bag, if they are not properly restrained.
