Defensive Driving Tips for LECANTO, Florida |
I am able to adjust the position of my steering wheel. Which position is most likely to minimize injury but provide the greatest protection from an airbag? Tilt the steering wheel toward your breastbone. Do not tilt it toward your abdomen or toward your head and neck. Try to adjust your seat at least 10 inches away from the center of the steering wheel.
How do airbags work? Airbags work by preventing your upper body from striking the steering wheel, dashboard and windshield in a head-on collision. Airbags will NOT deploy in most side-collisions, but side airbags are not as common as front airbags. A sensor is activated when the car strikes a solid object. This sensor sends an electric current, initiating a chemical release of non-toxic nitrogen gas that causes the airbag to inflate. The deployment is instantaneous and the airbag will deflate immediately, preventing the risk of suffocation.
My due date is approaching fast. How far ahead do I need to complete the course? We recommend you complete our course at least 10 business days prior to your due date. That will give you enough to mail your completed certificate to your court. When you receive your certificate from us, you are responsible for mailing it to your court on time.
How long do I have to finish the course? As long as you need to get your certificate to the court within the court?s deadline. Give yourself plenty of time for mailing your certificate. We recommend you finish at least 10 business days prior to your deadline.
Why should I take a defensive driving course in Texas? Will it remove my speeding ticket? The answer to the first question is: (1) it may keep your auto insurance rates from rising (if you qualify) and (2) you have the opportunity to learn about safe driving.
How many chances do I get to pass the final? You may attempt to pass the quizzes and final exam as many times as you wish. But keep an eye on the court?s deadline.

Tip for LECANTO, Florida The Virginia Highway Safety Office wants to remind you that seat belts are your best defense during a crash.
Tip for LECANTO, Florida Tailgating is always dangerous, but tailgating a large truck or bus is especially dangerous. Not only does this reduce your ability to see what's happening on the road ahead, but the driver of the truck or bus can't see you. Keep a safe distance when following.
Tip for LECANTO, Florida Texas motorcycle safety tip: Watch for riders who may need to maneuver around potholes and debris.
Tip for LECANTO, Florida Alcohol is involved in about one-third of fatal crashes involving 16-19-year-old-drivers.
Tip for LECANTO, Florida In 2001, motorcycles represented 2.2 percent of all registered vehicles in the United States and accounted for 0.34 percent of vehicle miles traveled, but crashes involving motorcycles accounted for 7.6 percent of total traffic fatalities on America's roadways.
Tip for LECANTO, Florida Don't tailgate. Try to keep four seconds of following distance between your car and the vehicle in front of you.
Tip for LECANTO, Florida Sometimes large vehicles must swing wide to turn safely. They'll swing right for a left turn and left for a right turn. Watch their turn signals and give them room to maneuver. Never drive between a turning truck or bus and the side of the road--your car could get stuck between the large vehicle and the curb.
Tip for LECANTO, Florida If you don't wear a seat belt, your chances of dying or being injured in a vehicle crash are much higher. In Virginia, 366 unrestrained people died in car crashes and 5,638 unbelted motorists were injured in 2008.
