How do airbags work?
Airbags will deploy in most frontal collisions, however front airbags will most likely not deploy in side-collisions. Side airbags will deploy in most side-collisions but side airbags are not as common as front airbags.

Is your website secure?
Yes. Our course provider's website is secure.

How do airbags work?
Airbags work by preventing your upper body from striking the steering wheel, dashboard and windshield in a head-on collision. Airbags will NOT deploy in most side-collisions, but side airbags are not as common as front airbags. A sensor is activated when the car strikes a solid object. This sensor sends an electric current, initiating a chemical release of non-toxic nitrogen gas that causes the airbag to inflate. The deployment is instantaneous and the airbag will deflate immediately, preventing the risk of suffocation.

Tip for CREWE, Virginia
Winter driving tip from Caltrans: #Allow enough time. Trips to the mountains can take longer during winter that other times of the year, especially if you encounter storm conditions or icy roads. Get an early start and allow plenty of time to reach your destination.

Tip for CREWE, Virginia
If you're driving down a hill ahead of a large vehicle that is fast approaching, speed up a little, if it's safe to do so, to keep a safe distance between your vehicles. The truck or bus driver may be trying to slow down safely without losing the momentum needed to climb the next hill at a reasonable speed.

Tip for CREWE, Virginia
Texas driving tip: When passing a truck, don't move back into your lane until you can see both truck headlights in your rearview mirror.

Tip for CREWE, Virginia
Texas driving tip: When tired, get out of your vehicle and stretch your legs every two hours. Rest for 15-20 minutes during each stop.

Tip for CREWE, Virginia
Driving in hazardous conditions such as fog, rain, or snow can be very dangerous. In fact, the CHP reports that in 2007 106 people were killed in collisions in which snow, rain, or fog was a factor. And more than 7,696 people were injured. (CHP Offers Wet and Winter Driving Safety Tips, CHP News)

Tip for CREWE, Virginia
Most new cars have air bags for front-seat passengers. When used with lap/shoulder belts, air bags work very well to protect older children and adults. Air bags do not work with rear-facing child seats (those used with infants). Airbags could seriously injure or even kill an unbuckled child or adult who is sitting too close to the air bag or who is thrown toward the dash during emergency braking. In a crash, the air bag inflates very quickly. It could hit anything close to the dashboard with enough force to cause severe injuries or even death. Because the back of a rear-facing child seat sits very close to the dashboard, the seat could be struck with enough force to cause serious, or even fatal injuries to a baby. Even older children (who have outgrown child seats) are at risk from a deploying air bag, if they are not properly restrained.

Tip for CREWE, Virginia
Since many motorcycles don't have windshields, riders must protect their eyes against insects, dirt, rocks, or other airborne matter. Even the wind can cause the eyes to tear and blur vision, and good vision is imperative when riding. Motorcycle operators should choose good quality goggles, glasses with plastic or safety lenses, or a helmet equipped with a face shield. Goggles, glasses, and face shields should be scratch free, shatterproof, and well-ventilated to prevent fog buildup. Only clear shields should be used at night since tinted shields reduce contrasts and make it more difficult to see. Even if the motorcycle has a windshield, eye protection is recommended.

Tip for CREWE, Virginia
If you've ever been passed on the wrong side, tailgated, cut off or hemmed in by another vehicle, you've been the victim of an aggressive driver. Drivers may be fined up to $200 for each moving violation associated with aggressive driving and could spend time in jail.
