Tip for BROOKSVILLE, Florida School buses don't have seat belts in them because they have a built-in occupant protection system known as compartmentalization, which is a system of seat height, seat length and padding, among other requirements. Compartmentalization is like an egg carton protecting a child.
Tip for BROOKSVILLE, Florida Seat belts hold the driver in place, helping the driver maintain control of the car during a collision. The lap belt should fit low and snug across the hips while the shoulder belt keeps the driver from pitching forward into the steering wheel, dashboard and windshield.

Tip for BROOKSVILLE, Florida When children outgrow their booster seats, (usually at age 8 or when they are 4?9? tall) they can use the adult seat belt in the back seat, if it fits properly (lap belt lays across the upper thighs and the shoulder belt fits across the chest).

Tip for BROOKSVILLE, Florida Sometimes large vehicles must swing wide to turn safely. They'll swing right for a left turn and left for a right turn. Watch their turn signals and give them room to maneuver. Never drive between a turning truck or bus and the side of the road--your car could get stuck between the large vehicle and the curb.
Tip for BROOKSVILLE, Florida LATCH consists of lower attachments on child seats and a set of tether anchors in the vehicle to hold the child seat in place without the use of the vehicle's seat belts.
