Defensive Driving Tips for ARMONK, New York |
Why is it so important not to have rear-facing child safety seats in the front seat? The force of nearly 3,000 pounds of pressure from a crash would thrust the child forward, crushing it between the safety seat and the back of the car seat. Never place a rear-facing child safety seat in the front seat of a vehicle equipped with a passenger-front airbag.
I am able to adjust the position of my steering wheel. Which position is most likely to minimize injury but provide the greatest protection from an airbag? Tilt the steering wheel toward your breastbone. Do not tilt it toward your abdomen or toward your head and neck. Try to adjust your seat at least 10 inches away from the center of the steering wheel.
Do I need to attend a classroom? No. The course is entirely online. It is web learning on your schedule at your pace.
How do airbags work? Airbags will deploy in most frontal collisions, however front airbags will most likely not deploy in side-collisions. Side airbags will deploy in most side-collisions but side airbags are not as common as front airbags.
I know that all children under age 12 should ride in the back seat, especially if the car is equipped with airbags. What about the elderly; are they safe with airbags? The elderly, like all other passengers and drivers, should be properly restrained with the seat as far back as possible and the individual's back firmly supported. All occupants should also keep arms and feet away from where the airbags will deploy.
What is the operation and conduct policy? Our course provider says, No credit or completion will be given if the course is completed by anyone other than you or if you are assisted by an outside party. When you enroll in the course you are stating under penalty of perjury that you, and not another person, studied the material in its entirety and completed that chapter quizzes and the final exam. By registering for the course, you understand that is may be a felony to make false statements or to falsify documents submitted by the court.

Tip for ARMONK, New York Texas driving tip: When you approach a stopped emergency vehicle with lights flashing, state law requires that you: (1) move a lane away from the emergency vehicle, or (2) slow down 20 miles per hour below the posted speed limit. Failure to comply could result in a fine of up to $200.
Tip for ARMONK, New York Don't exceed the speed limit. The chance of death or serious injury doubles for every 10 miles per hour over 50 mph that a vehicle travels. At high speeds, errors such as turning too quickly or braking too sharply can result in an out-of-control vehicle. Speed increases braking distance: If you double your speed, quadruple your braking distance. At high speeds, the amount of time available to detect and react to unexpected events is shortened.
Tip for ARMONK, New York Winter driving tip from Caltrans: #Allow enough time. Trips to the mountains can take longer during winter that other times of the year, especially if you encounter storm conditions or icy roads. Get an early start and allow plenty of time to reach your destination.
Tip for ARMONK, New York School buses don't have seat belts in them because they have a built-in occupant protection system known as compartmentalization, which is a system of seat height, seat length and padding, among other requirements. Compartmentalization is like an egg carton protecting a child.
Tip for ARMONK, New York Texas motorcycle safety tip: If you're passing a motorcyclist, treat them the same as a car or truck. Move over completely and allow the motorcyclist a full lane.
Tip for ARMONK, New York When a driver is buckled with a seat belt, children are likely to be buckled 87 percent of the time. When a driver is not buckled in a seat belt, children are likely to be buckled only 24 percent of the time.
Tip for ARMONK, New York Winter driving tip from Caltrans: Snow and ice make stopping distances much longer, so keep your seat belt buckled and leave more distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead.
Tip for ARMONK, New York In 2006, it is estimated that 425 children under age five were saved as a result of child restraint use. An estimated 8,325 lives were saved by child restraints from 1975 through 2006. (Traffic Safety Facts 2006 Data, NHTSA)
