What is the testing and grading policy? Our course provider says, Each chapter contains a quiz or quizzes that review important content from that chapter. The number of quizzes and quiz questions varies depending on your course. The quizzes do not affect your final exam score but will provide you with an excellent opportunity to master the course material. You also must take and pass a final exam upon completion of the course.
How do airbags work? Airbags work by preventing your upper body from striking the steering wheel, dashboard and windshield in a head-on collision. Airbags will NOT deploy in most side-collisions, but side airbags are not as common as front airbags. A sensor is activated when the car strikes a solid object. This sensor sends an electric current, initiating a chemical release of non-toxic nitrogen gas that causes the airbag to inflate. The deployment is instantaneous and the airbag will deflate immediately, preventing the risk of suffocation.
What software do I need to take the course? You need a working web browser that is connected to the Internet to take a defensive driving course. We support Internet Explorer 4.0 and higher, Netscape Navigator 6.0, AOL 4.0 and higher and most other browsers. There is no software to download and nothing saved to your hard drive. Some courses use the Macromedia Flash plug-in. This product is free and can be downloaded and installed at registration.
What is the course completion policy? Our course provider says, You must complete all phases of the approved curriculum in order to receive a certificate of completion. Any time missed must be made up. The school is prohibited from issuing a certificate of completion if the student has not met all the requirements for course completion and a student shall not accept a certificate under such circumstances.
What is the operation and conduct policy? Our course provider says, No credit or completion will be given if the course is completed by anyone other than you or if you are assisted by an outside party. When you enroll in the course you are stating under penalty of perjury that you, and not another person, studied the material in its entirety and completed that chapter quizzes and the final exam. By registering for the course, you understand that is may be a felony to make false statements or to falsify documents submitted by the court.

Tip for ANDERSON, California Safety belts should always be worn, even when riding in vehicles equipped with air bags. Air bags are designed to work with safety belts, not by themselves. Air bags, by themselves, have a fatality-reducing effectiveness of only 12 percent. (Sources: Facts to Buckle Up America and Traffic Safety Facts 2006 Data, NHTSA)
Tip for ANDERSON, California Head on collisions are among the most dangerous. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that, in 2006, 53 percent of passenger vehicle occupant fatalities occurred in vehicles that sustained frontal damage. (Traffic Safety Facts 2006 Data, NHTSA)
Tip for ANDERSON, California Once children outgrow their forward-facing seats (usually around age 4 and 40 pounds), they should ride in booster seats, in the back seat, until the vehicle seat belts fit properly. Seat belts fit properly when the lap belt lays across the upper thighs and the shoulder belt fits across the chest (usually at age 8 or when they are 4?9? tall).
Tip for ANDERSON, California Trucks and buses take more time and need greater distances than cars to speed up, maneuver, and stop. When driving near a large vehicle, signal your intentions early so the truck or bus driver has enough time to react safely.
Tip for ANDERSON, California Texas driving tip: When passing a truck, don't move back into your lane until you can see both truck headlights in your rearview mirror.
Tip for ANDERSON, California More than 100,000 motorcyclists have died in traffic crashes since the enactment of the Highway Safety and National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966. (Source: Traffic Safety Facts 2000: Motorcycles, NHTSA)
Tip for ANDERSON, California Winter driving tip from Caltrans: When stalled, stay with your vehicle and try to conserve fuel while maintaining warmth. Be alert to any possible exhaust or monoxide problems.
Tip for ANDERSON, California At railroad crossings, stop within 15 to 50 feet of the nearest rail when: 1. You are directed by a flag person. 2. There are flashing red lights or gongs sounding. 3. There is any warning device telling you that a train is coming.
